Oil Pan: Service and Repair

-

With ignition switched off, disconnect battery Ground (GND) strap.

-

Remove oil dipstick.

-

Unbolt dipstick guide tube at front of cylinder head (right side), and pull out from top.

-

Remove noise insulation panel (arrows).

-

Remove front bumper.

-

Lock carrier must be in service position

-

Open cap on coolant expansion tank.

WARNING:  The cooling system is pressurized when the engine is warm. When opening the expansion tank, wear gloves and other
appropriate protection, cover the cap with a cloth and open carefully to relieve system pressure slowly.

Place VW1306 receptacle below engine.

-

Turn drain screw (arrow) on radiator toward left, if necessary install drain hose to connection.

-

Open engine coolant drain screw on engine (arrow) using 3247 hex ball socket.

-

Drain coolant.

-

Drain engine oil.

-

Set up 10-222A engine support bridge with 10-222A/3 engine support adapter on bolted flanges for fender panels.

-

Connect support bracket to front and rear lifting eyes on engine.

-

Using spindles of support bracket, raise engine as far as possible.
