Checking
If the fuel gauge in the instrument cluster shows an incorrect reading, first check whether the signal is received by the instrument cluster.

Connect VAG1551/VAG1552 Scan Tool (ST) and press buttons -1- and -7- to insert "Instrument Cluster" address word 17 (with ignition switched
on).

If the correct fuel level is displayed in field 2 on the scan tool, but not by the fuel gauge in the instrument cluster, the instrument cluster is faulty and must
be replaced. Removing instrument cluster.
If the correct fuel level is not displayed in field 2 of the scan tool:

Check signal to multi-pin connector at instrument cluster.
