Fuel Supply Unit: Testing and Inspection

WARNING!  

Fire hazard. When working on the fuel system DO NOT smoke, work near heaters or have anything in the area that can ignite the fuel or
fumes.

Checking sender for fuel gauge -G- (front-wheel drive vehicles)

Remove cover for closing flange under luggage compartment liner.

Release 4-pin harness connector (arrow) and disconnect.

Using multimeter (Fluke 83 or equivalent), measure resistance between both terminals -2- and -3- of closing flange.

Tank full: specified value approx. 270 Ohms

-

Tank empty: specified value approx. 70 Ohms

If reading is 0 Ohms or Infinity Ohms, there is an open or short circuit inside the fuel tank.
