Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming: Service and Repair
Rear Side Airbag, Activating

Rear Side Airbag, Activating

WARNING:  Observe all safety precautions when working on airbags.

See Caution before beginning repairs on the electrical system

-

Disconnect battery

-

Remove seat bench

NOTE:  The rear side airbags can only be deactivated or activated together. It is not possible to disable or enable the side airbags individually.

The harness connectors are located at the left and right sides of the vehicle by the "C-pillar"
-

Cut cable ties for harness connectors.

-

Connect harness connectors - 1 - for side airbags.

-

Connect harness connectors - 1 - in cushion cut-out of rear seat bench.

-

Remove rear wheelhousing trim.

-

Connect harness connector to crash sensor at C-pillar.

-

Install rear wheelhousing trim.

-

Install rear seat bench.

See Caution for connecting Telematics battery

Reconnect battery.

WARNING:  There should be nobody inside the vehicle when the battery is connected.

-

Change coding of airbag control module to the code for rear side airbags installed.

When activation is complete:
