Tie Rod: Service and Repair

Tie rods, removing and installing 

Special tools and equipment

VAG1923 open end wrench insert

^

VAG1332 torque wrench
Measurement range: 40 to 200 Nm. 

Note:

Tie rods at left and right are identical.

^

Tie rods can be removed and installed with the steering gear installed.

Removing 

^

Remove front wheel.

^

Remove hex bolt -1- and bolt -2-.

^

Remove tie rod.
