Suspension strut, removing and installing
Removing
Note: Use the VAG 1383A transmission jack together with the 1359/2 attachment for removing and installing suspension struts.

Raise vehicle to proper height for servicing.
This relieves pressure on coil springs.

Remove bolt -2- (left and right) and lower transmission jack.

Swing rear axle downward and remove coil spring with help of second technician if necessary.

Remove bolts -1- and remove suspension strut.
Installing
Installation is the reverse of removal.

Replace all bolts and nuts.

Install suspension strut onto body and tighten to 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.).

Move rear axle downward (with help of second technician if necessary) and install coil spring. Note installation position, item 4.

Install mounting bolt -2- for suspension strut to rear axle.

Vehicle must be standing on its wheels when tightening suspension strut to rear axle mounting bolt -2-

Fully tighten bolt -2,
Tightening torque: 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.) + 1/4-turn (90°).
