Remove tapered roller bearing outer race -l- for differential and adjusting shim -2- (behind outer race) from transmission housing by hand.

Note:  The adjustment shim (-2-) is correctly sized and must not be replaced with one of different thickness.

Remove left drive flange.

Remove seal.

NOTES:  
^

The extractor lever must be placed behind the two sealing lips of the seal.

Guide the extractor lever carefully when pulling out the seal.

CAUTION:  Do not place the extractor lever on the outer circumference of the seal. Otherwise, the contact surface in the transmission housing
will be damaged

Installing 

-

Check seal seat in transmission housing for damage and repair if necessary.

Note:  Coat the outer surface and the sealing lips of the seal with ATF

-

Slide seal onto 3383 double seal installer.
Projecting sealing lip (arrow) of seal faces tool.

Drive new seal in to stop.
