Affected Vehicles

Condition

Customer may report that the range for the remote transmitter key operation is insufficient. No DTCs are stored for this condition.

Technical Background

Cause may be one of the following:

^ Inoperative remote key.

^ Low remote key battery.

^ An electrostatic charge, induced into the antenna lead of the ignition starter switch during vehicle production.

^ A broken solder joint at left rear glass.

Production Solution

Improved production process.

Service

1. After verifying the condition, obtain an operative remote key from another A6 or Q7 (same remote key) to compare the reception strength with the
customer's remote key.

Tip: The key from another vehicle needn't be adapted to the vehicle for this test.

2. Select Vehicle Self Diagnosis >> 05 - Access/Start Authorization System >> 011 - Measured values.

3. Note reading of Measurement Value Block 11, field 3, while operating each remote next to the left rear side window (Q7) or the top right of rear
