Battery Interrupt Igniter N253 , Removing And Installing - vehicles Since 07/04

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

-

Torque wrench V.A.G 1331

-

Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 B

CAUTION:  Battery Interrupt Igniters -N253 are pyrotechnic components. The same safety measures apply as with airbags. Observe
safety precautions for work on airbags.

NOTE:  If the Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) K75 lights up after an accident, check using whether crash data have been stored. If this
is the case, check in DTC memory whether for Battery Interrupt Igniter -N253 there is entered the DTC 001 Resistance too large. If this is the
case, Battery Interrupt Igniter-N253 must be replaced.

Removing

NOTE:  Contrary to description "Disconnecting and Connecting Battery", battery must be disconnected when removing airbag with ignition switched
on.

Switch on ignition.

-

Disconnect battery.

-

Remove battery.
