Remove the retainer - 5 - downward - arrow  -, press on it and disconnect the electrical connector -  1 -.

Installing

CAUTION!
Battery Interrupt Igniters (N253) are pyrotechnic components. The same safety measures apply as with airbags.

CAUTION!
Observe the safety precautions for repairs on airbags. 

Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following:

Observe the specified tightening specification. 

‹› Ensure that electrical connections are pushed in as far as stop and engage with a click.

CAUTION!
No one should be in vehicle when connecting battery.

Install the battery and connect it with the ignition switched on.

Check the airbag control module DTC memory and and correct any faults if necessary.
