Vehicle Alignment Procedure Overview
Vehicle Alignment Procedure Overview
‹› Vehicle must only be measured at empty weight. Refer to => [ Test Prerequisites ] See: Wheels and Tires/Tire Monitoring System/Testing and
Inspection!
‹› Check which suspension is installed in the vehicle. This information can be found on the vehicle data plate. Refer to => [ PR Number Explanations
] See: Application and ID.
‹› Exception: Measurement of toe-in curve according to instructions from measuring program.
Observe the following work sequence!
1
On vehicles with air suspension, check axle alignment control position. Refer to => [ Axle Alignment Control Position, with Air Spring
Suspension, Checking ] See: Suspension/Suspension Control ( Automatic - Electronic )/Air Spring/Testing and Inspection.
2
If necessary, check steering rack center position. Refer to => [ Rack, Checking Mechanical Center Position ]
3
Perform wheel run-out compensation. Refer to => [ Rim Run-Out Compensation ] See: Rim Run-Out Compensation.
4
Check front axle camber and adjust if necessary. Refer to => [ Front Axle Camber, Checking and Adjusting ] See: Front Axle Camber, Checking
and Adjusting.
5
Check rear axle camber and adjust if necessary. Refer to => [ Rear Axle Camber, Adjusting ] See: Rear Axle Camber, Adjusting.
6
Check rear axle toe and adjust if necessary. Refer to => [ Rear Axle Toe, Adjusting ] See: Rear Axle Toe, Adjusting.
7
If necessary, check toe-in curve behavior at front axle. Whether and when the toe-in curve/toe constant "S" must be adjusted is described in the
table. Refer to => [ Wheel Alignment Check ] See: Wheel Alignment Check and => [ Front Axle Toe, Adjusting ] See: Front Axle Toe, Adjusting.
8
Check toe in initial position at front axle and adjust if necessary. Refer to => [ Front Axle Toe, Adjusting ] See: Front Axle Toe, Adjusting.
9
If adjustments have been made on the front axle, perform a zero adjustment on the Steering Angle Sensor (G85). Refer to=> Vehicle diagnosis,
testing and information system VAS 5051.
10
If adjustments have been made on the rear axle, ACC adjustment is required. Refer to => [ Rear Axle Toe, Adjusting ] See: Rear Axle Toe,
Adjusting or => [ Front Axle Toe, Adjusting ] See: Front Axle Toe, Adjusting.
11
If the setting on the rear axle are changed, then is it necessary to calibrate the lane assist. Refer to => [ Calibration Procedure ] See: Testing and
Inspection/Component Tests and General Diagnostics/Calibration Procedure.
