Transmission Control Module, Replacing
‹› The Transmission Control Module (TCM) (J217) is a component of the mechatronic unit in the transmission and cannot be replaced separately.
‹› To achieve optimal anti-theft protection for the vehicle, an anti-theft immobilizer was installed. The anti-theft immobilizer is a system for
enabling/locking the Transmission Control Module (TCM) (J217).
Procedure
Check the identification of the previous Transmission Control Module (TCM) (J217) as follows:

Connect the scan tool.

Switch the ignition on.

Select "Diagnostic mode 9: Vehicle information."

Select the"Test-ID 04: Calibration identification".

The Transmission Control Module (TCM) (J217) identification will be displayed, e.g.: 09G27750 L 0301
-
End diagnosis and switch the ignition off.

Replace the mechatronic unit in the transmission=> Automatic Transmission 38 Removal and Installation..
-
Check the identification of the new Transmission Control Module (TCM) (J217) to ensure it matches the old Transmission Control Module
(TCM) (J217).

Code the Transmission Control Module (TCM) (J217).
Final procedures
1. Check the DTC memory. Refer to => [ Diagnostic Mode 03 - Read DTC Memory ] See: Powertrain Management/Computers and Control
Systems/Testing and Inspection/Scan Tool Testing and Procedures/Diagnostic Modes 01 - 09/Diagnostic Mode 03 - Read DTC Memory.
2. If necessary, erase DTC memory of the Transmission Control Module (TCM) (J217). => [ Diagnostic Mode 04 - Erase DTC Memory ] See:
