Cruise Control Switch: Service and Repair
Steering Column Switches, Removing and Installing
WARNING!

Airbag system components must only be checked, removed, installed or repaired by qualified Service Department personnel.

Whenever reconnecting the battery, the passenger compartment must not be occupied. Always refer to air-bag system safety precautions.
Removing:
-
Disconnect battery ground (GND) strap.

Turn front wheels and steering wheel to straight ahead position. Pull adjustable steering column out as far as it will go and set to lowest position.

Using Torx T30 bit -1-, remove screws for airbag unit from left and right sides of back of steering wheel. Tightening torque 7 Nm (62 in. lb).

Carefully pivot airbag unit toward front, disconnect connector and place airbag unit facing up.

Remove both screws -8- and carefully pull out upper half of steering column trim -1-.

Disconnect electrical connector for spiral spring.

Remove nut -12- and steering wheel -11-.
Tightening torque: 50 Nm (37 ft lb)
CAUTION!
When removing the steering wheel, do not unwind the spiral spring from its center position.

Remove screws -5- and -6- and Torx screw -9-, then remove lower steering column trim -7-.

Disconnect electrical connector for steering column height adjuster.
