Auxiliary Water Pump: Service and Repair
Pump Valve Unit, Removing and Installing

Switch ignition off.

-

Remove vacuum brake booster.

NOTES:  If the coolant pump -V50- produces noises, check that the cooling system is completely bled before removing the pump valve unit (air in
cooling system can produce noises).

WARNING!
The cooling system is pressurised when the engine is warm. Wear gloves and other appropriate protection, and slowly and carefully release
system pressure, if necessary, before performing repairs.

Release pressure in the cooling system by opening the cap on the coolant expansion tank and drain cooling system into a clean container.

Disconnect both coolant hoses from engine to pump valve unit (-A- and -B-) and mark arrangement of coolant hoses.

Remove cover with air flow flap. See: Air Door/Service and Repair

Hold coolant hose -A- in clean container.

-

Carefully blow coolant out of the pump valve unit and heater cores through coolant hose -B- with compressed air.

Remove reinforcing plate (plenum). See: Service and Repair 

-

Mark coolant hoses -A- and -B- and disconnect from coolant hoses running to the healer cores.

Remove securing bolts -C-.

-

Disconnect pump valve unit from the rubber mounts -B-.

-

Pull pump valve unit far enough to the right until the two clips at coolant hoses -A- (at the pump valve unit) are accessible.

Mark coolant hoses -A- and disconnect from the pump valve unit.

-

Remove pump valve unit together with coolant hoses.
