Battery: Description and Operation

Battery

The battery is one of the most important electrical components in the vehicle. Trouble-free service contributes greatly to customer satisfaction. To assure
long service life, the battery must be maintained and serviced as outlined in this chapter.

Next to supplying energy for starting the engine, the battery also acts as a buffer and supplier of electrical energy for the entire electrical circuit of the
vehicle.

With the extensive use of aluminum construction, corrosion caused by contact between dissimilar metals may result if the wrong screws, bolts, nuts,
washers, rivets, plugs, grommets, adhesives, etc. are installed.

For this reason, the manufacturer installs only fasteners that have a special surface coating, recognized by its greenish color. Also rubber and plastic parts
and adhesives are used that are electrically non-conductive.

These parts, compatible for use with aluminum, are also available as spare parts.

Only use genuine parts!

If you have doubts whether the old part can be used again, replace it with a new part.

Only use accessories that are approved by Audi of America, Inc.

Damage from contact corrosion caused by improper assembly with unsuitable parts is NOT covered under warranty!
