The Servotronic electrically controls the steering power assist relative to vehicle speed. If the electronics malfunction, the regular power steering
system operates normally, although two different characteristics can be noted:

Greater than usual force is required when steering the vehicle, e.g. turning into a parking space

The steering is unusually easy to move at high vehicle speed

If the steering is hard to turn to only one side (i.e. steering to the right easily and steering to the left hard) there is a hydraulic malfunction. The
steering gear must be replaced.

Must be removed to replace Servotronic Solenoid Valve -N 119-, refer to Removal/Installation. See: Steering Gear/Service and Repair

Servotronic Solenoid Valve -N119-

To clean or replace, remove steering gear

Checking, refer to Solenoid Valve.

Provided with approx. 80 cm (31.5 inch) long wiring harness for easier removal or installation of steering gear.

To disconnect harness connector, remove back part of right front wheelhousing

Bolt

Tighten to, 3 Nm (27 inch lb)
