Put selector lever in "P" position and run engine at idle (closed throttle position).
^
Place drain pan under transmission oil pan to catch spilled fluid.
The ATF temperature is measured using the VAG 1551 Scan Tool (ST) as follows:

Connect VAG1551 scan tool.
^
Press button -1- to select "Rapid data transmission" operating mode 1.
^
Press buttons -0- and -2- to insert "Transmission Electronics" address word 02.
^
Press -Q-button to confirm input.
^
Press (arrow) button.
^
Press buttons -0- and -8- to select "Read Measuring Value Block" function 08.
^
Press -Q- button to confirm input.
^
Press buttons -0-, -0- and -4- to input display group number 004.
^
Press-Q- button to confirm input.
^
Indicated on display. The ATF temperature is indicated (in ° C) in display field 1.
^
Remove ATF filler plug -2-.
The ATF level is OK if:
There is a slight escape of fluid through the filler plug hole -2- at an ATF temperature of 30 - 45°C. 1 )
1) For hot regions: 50°C
^
Install ATF filler plug -2-.
Tightening torque: 80 Nm (59 ft. lbs.)
Notes:
^
The ATF filler plug must be closed (at the latest), when the fluid reaches a temperature of 45°C (for hot countries 50°C).
^
Always replace the O-ring for the ATF filler plug.
