If the specifications are not obtained:

Switch ignition off.

Connect test box VAG1598/31 to wiring harness for engine control module. Do not connect to the engine control module itself.  Refer to "Scan
Tool Testing/Scan Tool Connecting and Initial Checks/Connecting VAG1598/31 Test Box" See: Computers and Control Systems/Testing and
Inspection 

-

Check wiring connection from 4-pin connector on ignition coil (output stage to engine control module for open circuit and short circuit to B+ or
Ground (GND)

Contact 3 on 4-pin connector
for ignition coil (output stage)  Contact on VAG1598/31 test box

Wiring resistance: 1.5 Ohms maximum

Repair any open/short circuit as necessary. If no wiring malfunction is detected:

-

Replace ignition coil with output stage (combined as a single component).

-

Display readiness code. If DTC memory was erased generate readiness code.
