Vehicle goes into Emergency Running Mode.

Both Tiptronic and normal display lights are brightly lit.

6. Switch headlights and ignition off.

7. Replace shifter harness and transmission control module as follows:

a. Remove center console. (See Center console, removing and installing in Repair Manual A8 Body Interior, Repair Group - 68.)

b. Install new shifter harness (Figure 1, K), Part No: 4D0 971 697G. (See Selector lever mechanism and controls, disassembling and assembling

in Repair Manual, A8 5 Spd. Automatic Transmission 01L All Wheel Drive, Repair Group - 37, Selector lever mechanism and controls,
servicing.)

1. Install center console. (See Center console, removing and installing in Repair Manual A8 Body Interior, Repair Group - 68.)

NOTE:  To ensure proper function of the accelerator kickdown, turn pedal stop as outlined in console removal and installation procedure.

a. Replace Transmission Control Module (TCM). (See Removing and installing Transmission Control Module (TCM) -J217- in Repair Manual,

A8 5 Spd. Automatic Transmission 01L All Wheel Drive, Repair Group - 01, Electrical and electronic components, locations.)

Warranty
