Side Air Bag: Service and Repair
Without Power Adjusted Seats

Rear Side Airbags Without Power Adjusted Seats, Disabling And Enabling

NOTE:  Left and right side airbags can only be switched off together. A separate shut-off is not possible.

Disabling

CAUTION!
Note safety measures when working with airbag.

Code control module to disable rear side airbags:

-

For vehicles with coded radio unit, radio/navigation system (RNS) note coding; ask if necessary.

Disconnect battery ground strap and cover negative pole.

-

Remove rear seat bench.

Installed position of connector (orange) - 3- for side airbag left and right: near C-pillar.

Slide foam tube -1- back.

-

Press lock -2- and separate left and right orange connectors for side airbag.

-

Secure loose connectors with tie wraps (leaving connectors disconnected)

Install rear seat bench.

Connect battery.

WARNING!
When connecting battery make sure no one is in the vehicle.

Apply label for disabled rear side airbag.

After disabling rear side airbags, fill out registration card and send to sales center or the importer for registration. This rear side airbag shutoff by the
dealership must be noted in the service booklet.

The second registration card must be kept by the customer (board book) until subsequent enabling of rear side airbags.

Enabling
