Vehicle Speed Sensor: Service and Repair
Impulse Wheel

NOTE:  The following special tools and testing equipment are necessary for this work:

VW 401 - Pressure plate

^

VW 402 - Pressure plate

^

VW 412 - Thrust disc

^

VW 415 A - Tube

^

32-109 - Driving sleeve

Removal

-

Remove left drive flange, refer to Transmission and Drivetrain.

-

Remove circlip (arrow -A-) for ball bearing.

-

Place left drive flange bracket on pressure plates VW 401 and VW402 and press drive flange out of bracket using thrust disc VW 412.

CAUTION:  Hold the drive flange with one hand to prevent it from falling.

Remove impulse wheel for speedometer VSS -G22- from drive flange or bracket.

Installation 

-

Install impulse wheel for VSS -G22- (arrow) on drive flange and check installation position.

NOTE:

The driver on the impulse wheel must engage in the groove of the drive flange.
