ATF, Changing, Topping Off After Repair
Draining ATF
^
Place drain pan under transmission oil pan to catch fluid.
^
Open drain plug -1- and drain ATF.
CAUTION!
^
Dispose of used ATF properly.
^
If there is no ATF in the transmission, the engine must not be started and the vehicle must not be towed.
Filling ATF
Notes:
^
When filling is started, the ATF temperature must not be higher than 30°C.
^
Always replace the O-ring for the ATF filler plug.
^
Install ATF drain plug -1-.
Tightening torque: 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.)
^
Remove ATF filler plug -2-.
^
Add ATF using filler nozzle from VAG 1924, until excess ATF escapes through hole for ATF filler plug.
Note:
The filler nozzle must be introduced into one of the openings of the oil scraper cap (item -4-, first illustration which is installed above the filler
hole.
