Seals and Gaskets: Service and Repair
Drive (Output) Flange Sealing Rings (Left and Right), Replacing
Notes:
^
The rear final drive has to be removed in order to replace the sealing rings.
^
The work sequence is the same for each side.
Removing
^
Remove rear final drive.
^
Remove drive flange as follows:
^
Install 2 bolts in drive flange and counterhold with mounting lever to loosen mounting bolt.
^
Place oil drain pan underneath drive flange and remove drive flange.
^
Press out drive flange sealing ring using suitable lever.
Installing
The sealing ring is installed in reverse order of removal. In addition, the following work steps have to be carried out:

Lubricate outer circumference of sealing ring with gear oil.
^
Drive sealing ring for left or right drive axle in to stop using thrust piece 2062.
^
Lubricate surface between sealing lip and dust lip with gear oil.
^
Install and tighten drive flange (M8).
Tightening torque: 24 Nm (18 ft. lbs.)
^
Install rear final drive .
^
Top off fluid in rear final drive and check fluid level.
