Output Shaft: Service and Repair
Replacement
NOTE: The following special tool is necessary for this work:

3402 - Thrust piece
Removal
-
Disconnect left and right three way catalytic converters from rear exhaust system and press both three way catalytic converters apart, refer to
Exhaust System

Remove heat shield for drive shaft.

Remove drive shaft from drive flange refer to Replacement.

Place drain pan underneath distributor gear to catch fluid.
-
Drain fluid from distributor gear.
-
Unscrew output flange.
Counter-hold output flange with mandrel to keep it from turning.

Remove pinion flange by hand; loosen with two installation tools if necessary.
NOTE: When prying the drive flange off, do not damage the collar on the transmission housing.

Remove sealing ring using suitable screwdriver.
Installation
-
The sealing ring is installed in reverse order of removal. In addition, the following work steps have to be carried out.
