Rear A/C Control Head, Climatronic

Rear A/C Control Head (Climatronic) (E265), removing and installing. Refer to => [ Rear A/C Control Head, Climatronic ] See: Service and

‹› The Rear A/C Control Head (Climatronic) (E265) cannot be exchanged as usual at this time. Component protection is not currently active for this

component and the date when it will be implemented has not been determined yet Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051 in
"Guided Fault Finding" function.

‹› Front A/C control heads cannot be exchanged as usual. Component protection becomes active once a Climatronic Control Module (J255) front

A/C control head is programmed in a Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051 in "Guided Fault Finding" function.

‹› If a Climatronic Control Module (J255) front A/C control head with active component protection is installed in another vehicle, only the functions

necessary for vehicle safety will be available. Comfort functions cannot be selected. This also applies to the functions of the Rear A/C Control
Head Climatronic (E265) vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051 in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.

‹› Use the correct allocation when replacing a Rear A/C Control Head Climatronic (E265) . 

‹› There are different versions of the Rear A/C Control Head Climatronic (E265) on vehicles with or without rear seat heating and rear seat heating

with or without seat ventilation. Part number index must therefore be heeded. .

‹› After installing the Rear A/C Control Head Climatronic (E265), perform an A/C system basic setting according to the instructions from the vehicle

diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051 in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.

‹› The selected functions are displayed by illuminated LEDs in the various buttons of Rear A/C Control Head (Climatronic) (E265).

‹› If information "child safety system for rear doors activated " is received via data bus system, Rear A/C Control Head (Climatronic) (E265) is

switched off, and, depending on version, display of Rear A/C Control Head (Climatronic) (E265) shows " Passive" (air conditioner can then only
be operated by front A/C control head Climatronic Control Module (J255)). => Owner's Manual

‹› The Rear A/C Control Head Climatronic (E265) temperature display units in °C or °F is transmitted by the MMI via the Comfort databus system

and determined by the setting entered there. 

‹› Display fields and control buttons on Rear A/C Control Head (Climatronic) (E265) are illuminated by light emitting diodes (LEDs, cannot be

replaced).

‹› Pressing the buttons on the Rear A/C Control Head Climatronic (E265) for an extended period of time for example due to an object lying on them

can cause a fault to be stored in the DTC memory indicate the buttons are stuck. If necessary, check the function of the buttons and erase the DTC
memory if no malfunction is found.

‹› Two rotary knobs are attached. They can be removed and replaced separately. .

‹› From MY 2009, Rear A/C Control Head Climatronic (J255) front A/C control heads with part number 4E0 820 043 from index "J" and modified

Rear A/C Control Head Climatronic (E265) with different symbols on the buttons will be installed as a running change. Make sure the allocation is
correct. 

Perform the following steps after replacing Rear A/C Control Head Climatronic (E265)vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051 in
the "Guided Fault Finding" function.
