Retaining Ring

‹› To secure the bottom of the boot.

‹› Do not loosen or the air spring damper will be damaged.

Air Spring Damper Boot Clamp Tightening

Use the (VAG 1682) as shown in the illustration. When doing that, make sure the jaws on the (VAG 1682) are centered - arrow A - on the clamp.

Tighten the clamp by turning the spindle on the (VAG 1682) using a torque wrench (do not bend the clamp).

‹› Tightening specification: 8 Nm

‹› Use a torque wrench with a 4 to 20 Nm range (for example, (VAG 1410))

‹› Make sure the spindle threads - A - on the (VAG 1682) move freely. Grease with MoS2 grease if necessary.

‹› If the do not move freely, for example, due to dirt in the threads, the required clamp tension will not be achieved at the specified torque.
