To prevent damage from occurring, it is very important to pay attention to everything in the engine compartment.

-

Carefully lower rear of engine and transmission with engine/transmission jack (V.A.G 1383 A).

-

The forward exhaust pipe must not rest on the subframe.

-

Remove shield from lever/selector shaft.

-

Remove the selector lever cable ball socket - 1 - from the selector shaft lever - 3 - using the pry lever (80 - 200)

-

Unclip lock washer - 2 - on the shift select lever cable bracket and remove shift select lever cable.

-

Lever the locking washers - arrows - for the sound proofing - 2 - from the cover of the transmission shift activator.
