Place (V.A.G 1782) beneath transmission.

Wear protective eyewear.

Loosen and remove cover bolts opposite the tightening sequence.

Drain the ATF.

Carefully remove the self-locking center differential cover from the transmission toward the rear. 

Otherwise, the self-locking center differential can fall out of the transmission.

-

Secure the self-locking center differential from falling out or pull it rearward and off from the output shaft.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal.
