91 MOST Satellite Tuner - Repair Authorization

Condition

Audi of America is requesting your cooperation in supplying us with the technical information vital to the successful analysis of a satellite tuner issue
through a Repair Authorization prior to any satellite tuner repair. This procedure is mandatory for all Audi Dealers.

All following conditions must apply:

-

Customer is complaining about an inoperative MMI system.

-

DTC 00384 (no optical communication) is stored in 19 - Gateway.

-

MOST bus components do not communicate with the VAS scan tool.

-

Ringbreak diagnosis identifies the satellite tuner as inoperative.

Technical Background

Disconnecting the power supply of the satellite tuner usually resets the tuner, and the MMI system is operative again for an unspecified period of time.
Therefore, do not disconnect the satellite tuner.

Service

1. Do not disconnect the satellite tuner.

Tip: 

Disconnecting the satellite tuner will cause the MMI system will be operative again for an unspecified period of time but will not address the
root cause.

2. Verify the condition.

3. Scan vehicle with GFF. Generate a 00 printout and perform a ring break diagnosis from 19 - Gateway. Save the printout to a memory stick.

4. Submit a Technical Assistance Center ticket. Attach log with ring break. This procedure is mandatory for all Audi Dealers.
