Indicated on display of VAS 5051:
-

Select function "10 - Adaption".

-

Measure the thickness of the thinner of the two brake pads (without backplate) and enter the value via the keypad or scroll-bar.

Select keypad or enter via scroll-bar.

-

Enter value between 10 - 23 mm via keypad -2-.

-

Confirm by pressing "Q" key (moves piston to original position).

-

Select Save and then Accept.

When re-installing old brake pads (different procedure)

Indicated on display of VAS 5051:
^

Request to enter a display group in display zone -1-.

^

Display zone -2- shows a keyboard.

-

Enter "05" or "005" as display group number via the keypad -2- and confirm entry with "Q key".

-

Install wheels

-

Check brake fluid level and top off if necessary.

NOTE: The electronic parking brake must now be re-calibrated.

Requirements

-

Electronic parking brake must be released.

-

Selector lever must be in "P" position.
-

Switch ignition off, remove ignition key and lock steering wheel lock.

The re-calibration is performed.

-

The electronic parking brake audibly travels up and back down.

-

The air gap adjusts itself.
-

Wait until this process is completed.

The re-calibration is now finished.

The DTC memory is then erased.
