Starter Motor: Service and Repair
With 4.2L MPI
Starter
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
‹› Support bar (10 - 222 A)
‹› Shackles (10 - 222 A /12)
‹› Adapter (10 - 222 A /21)
Removing

With ignition switched off, disconnect battery ground (ND) wire. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] See: Tools and
Equipment/Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.
‹› All cable ties opened or cut during engine removal must be reinstalled at the same locations during installation.

Remove rubber seal - 1 - on plenum chamber covers.

Remove plenum chamber covers - 2 - and - 3 -.

Remove cover for right suspension strut dome by detaching expanding clip - 1 - and removing bolted joint - 2 -.
‹› Pay attention to retaining clips - arrows - on installation.

Remove cover for left suspension strut dome by removing bolt - 1 - and detaching expanding clip - 2 -.
