Power Steering Pump: Testing and Inspection

Power Steering Pump, Checking Delivery Pressure

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Hose clamps up to 25 mm dia. (3094)

‹› Torque wrench (5-50 Nm) (VAG 1331)

‹› Power steering test unit (VAG 1402)

‹› Adapter (VAG 1402/3)

‹› Adapter hose (VAG 1402/6)

Test Prerequisites

‹› Sealing of system

‹› Hoses/lines are not kinked or constricted

Checking

-

Place the vehicle on the hoist. Refer to => [ Positioning Vehicle on the Hoist and on its Wheels ] See: Suspension/Service and
Repair/Procedures/Positioning Vehicle on the Hoist and on its Wheels.

CAUTION!
‹› There is a check valve under the clamp - 3 -. Do not use the (3094) in the check valve area.

Clamp off the suction hose - 1 - and return hose - 2 - in the reservoir area using the (3094).

Remove the noise insulation.

Bring the lock carrier into the service position. See: Body and Frame/Lock Carrier

Place a suitable wooden block - 2 - between the longitudinal member and the lock carrier - 1 -.
