Ultrasonic Sensor: Testing and Inspection
Interior Monitoring, Troubleshooting

NOTE:  Checking of the interior monitoring sensors and the interior monitoring system control module can only be carried out by substituting known
good or "test" components.

If malfunctions have occurred in the ultrasonic interior monitoring system:
-

Carry out interior monitoring diagnosis. See: Interior Monitoring, Diagnosis

-

Evaluate diagnosis according to diagnostic table.

Checking Sensors

-

Remove sensors. See: Service and Repair

-

Visually inspect for irregularities (i.e. check electrical connections, etc.).

Replace sensors (with "test" sensors) but DO NOT install B-pillar trim.

-

Carry out diagnosis and functional check. 

If Both Tests (With "test" Sensors) Are OK:

-

Test removed (used) sensors as follows:
-

Reinstall one used sensor.

-

Carry out diagnosis and functional check.

-

Reinstall second used sensor.

-

Carry out diagnosis and functional check.

-

Based on test results, replace sensors as necessary.

-

Install sensors in B-pillar trim.

If Both Tests (With "test" Sensors) Are NOT OK:

-

Check control module. See below.

Checking Control Module

-

Remove control module. See: Service and Repair

-

Replace control module (with "test" control module).

-

Carry out diagnosis and functional check. 

If Both Tests (With "test" Control Module) Are NOT OK:

-

Check wiring connections using applicable wiring diagram.
-

Connector for control module, terminal assignments. See: Locations/Connector Locations

-

Connector for switch, terminal assignments. See: Locations/Connector Locations

-

Repair wiring as necessary.

-
