Wheel Speed Sensor: Service and Repair

LEGEND

1. Drive axle with ABS wheel speed sensor rotor
2. Bolt with washer

NOTE:  During removal and installation procedures, refer to the component location illustration above and component notes below.

COMPONENT NOTES

Drive Axle With ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Rotor (1)
-

Check rotor for dirt and damage.

-

If rotor is damaged, drive axle must be removed and outer CV joint must be replaced.

-

Outer CV joint is supplied with rotor as replacement part.

Bolt With Washer (2)
-

Tighten to 10 Nm (7 ft. lbs.). 

Flanged Bolt (4)
-

Always replace.

-

Tighten to 200 Nm (148 ft. lbs.) plus additional 1/4-turn (90°). 

WARNING:  Loosen and tighten the flanged bolt only with the vehicle standing on its wheels. Otherwise, there is risk of accident. 

Clamping Sleeve (5)
-

Always replace.

-

Right and left side parts are identical.

-

Grease all around sleeve with brake cylinder paste before installing in swing arm.

-

Press into swing arm to stop.

ABS Wheel Speed Sensor (7)
-

Before installing, install seal and grease all around with brake cylinder paste. Then press in to stop by hand.
