Brake Master Cylinder: Service and Repair
Master Cylinder Removing and Installing

Attach bleeder hose of bleeder bottle to left-front brake caliper bleeder screw and open bleeder screw.

Operate brake pedal to pump out as much brake fluid as possible.

Close front left bleeder screw.

Remove plenum chamber cover.
-
Remove mounting bolt -3- for brake fluid reservoir.
-
Disconnect harness connector for brake fluid level warning switch -2-.
-
Disconnect return hose -1- for clutch master cylinder (if equipped).

For vehicles with ESP, remove intake hose.
Note:

Protect plenum chamber from escaping brake fluid.

The brake fluid reservoir is engaged in master cylinder at lower side.

To remove reservoir, press engagement strap downward and simultaneously pull brake fluid reservoir out of gasket.

Remove brake fluid reservoir.

Disconnect brake lines -2- and seal with plugs.

Remove mounting nuts for master cylinder -1-.

Carefully remove master cylinder from brake booster.
When installing, pay particular attention to the following points:

Before installing master cylinder, clean plenum chamber from any remaining brake fluid that may have escaped.

When installing master cylinder onto brake booster, make sure push rod is correctly located in master cylinder.

Bleed brake system.
