Oil Pressure Warning Lamp/Indicator: Description and Operation
CHECKING OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT
With the ignition switched ON (terminal 15 on) and the engine not running, the oil pressure warning light must light up (not applicable for vehicles
with Auto-Check system).
Warning Criteria

Engine coolant temperature greater than 60°C (140°F), engine speed above 1500 RPM, and oil pressure switch open.

Engine coolant temperature less than 60°C (140°F), engine speed above 300 RPM, and oil pressure switch open.

At engine speed over 5000 RPM, an active oil pressure warning is not erased, depending on oil pressure switch status:

If voltage to the control module is OK (terminal 15), the oil pressure switch is open for longer than 0.5 seconds, and engine speed is over 1500
RPM, the oil pressure warning information will be stored.
^
If these conditions are repeated 3 times during a drive, the warning becomes and/or remains active even at engine speeds less than 1300 RPM.
