Ignition Coil Power Output Stages, Checking

Checking Actuation

-

Remove bracket along with ignition coil power output stages -N122- and -N192- (arrows).

-

Disconnect all fuel injector harness connectors and hold-downs.

-

Disconnect 5-pin connectors (from ECM) from both power output stages.

-

Connect one lead of VAG1527B LED voltage tester to engine Ground. Connect other lead in sequence to check for voltage at terminals 1, 2, 4 and
5 of each 5- pin connector.

For each test (at each connector terminal):

Briefly operate starter motor. 
LED must flash each time.

If LED does not flash:

-

Connect VAG1598/19 test box to Engine Control Module (ECM) harness connector. Refer "Scan Tool Testing/Scan Tool Connecting and Initial
