Affected Vehicles

91 MMI display mounting is noisy, stuck or does not run smoothly

Condition

Customer may report that the mounting mechanism of the MMI display is either:

-

not running smoothly,

-

noisy or rattling, or

-

stuck and does not move at all.

Technical Background

The MMI display mounting does not function like a front loading CD player:
 
The MMI display mounting cannot be pushed in by hand. The appropriate MMI display button has to be used instead.

If there is no entry related to the display mounting in the data memory of Electrical System Module 2 (J520), then the MMI display mounting was
damaged due to external forces.

Production Solution

Introduction of misuse protection of the MMI display mounting.

Service

1. Replace the MMI display mounting.

2. Please inform the customer that, in contrast with a front loading CD player, the MMI display mounting cannot be pushed in by hand. The

appropriate MMI display button has to be used instead.

Warranty

This damage is due to outside influence and is not covered by any Audi warranty.
