Hydraulic Control Assembly - Antilock Brakes: Procedures

Hydraulic control unit, removing and installing 

Special tools and equipment

V.A.G 1331 Torque wrench

^

Brake pedal depressor V.A.G 1869/2

^

Sealing plugs repair kit, part No. 1H0 698 311A

Installation location:
The hydraulic control unit is installed on the lefthand side of the engine compartment.

Removing: 

CAUTION: Do not bend the brake lines.

Note or request radio code on vehicles with coded radio if necessary.

CAUTION: On vehicles equipped with Audi Telematics by OnStar, switch-off the emergency (backup) battery for the Telematic/Telephone Control
Module prior to disconnecting the vehicle battery.. Switch-on the emergency (back-up) battery after reconnecting the vehicle battery.

Disconnect battery.

Remove hex bolts -1 - securing coolant expansion tank
