Vehicle Information

Condition

The Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) warning may turn on unnecessarily.
This software update does not affect the operational functionality of the system.

Technical Background

On Audi A8 vehicles, the warning lamp for the electronic parking brake (EPB) may light up due to a memory overflow on the EPB control unit.

Production Solution

Updated EPB software implemented in the production of new vehicles.

Service

Customers do not need to be directly informed of the repair. Please ensure that all affected vehicles are checked and repaired during a service visit. You
should also pass on this information to your used car sales department so that the vehicles within the affected range can be checked and repaired before
sale.

Electronic Parking Brake Control Module Software must be updated to 220 (or higher)

1. Ensure that the battery has a minimum no-load charge of 12.5 V.

NOTE:  

Failure to maintain voltage during update process can lead to Control Module failure.

Minimize any voltage draw:

-

Turn off the radio and other accessories.

-

Apply emergency brake to turn off running lights (if applicable).

Make sure that no electromagnetic sources (mobile phone or cordless DECT telephone) are operated in or near the vehicle while the individual
control module is being updated.

2. Connect VAS 5051B or VAS 5052 to your workshop network.

If using VAS 5052, insert the update CD, TRW No. YWB 4002A in the CD drive of the tester.
