A8L V8-4.2L (BFM) (2004)

Check both coolant pipes -B- and connections at heat exchanger -C- for damage and dirt.
NOTE: Sealing rings must always be replaced.

Moisten sealing ring -A- slightly with coolant and attach it to coolant pipe -B-.

Attach retainer -A- (with studs) to connection at heat exchanger -B- as shown in illustration.

Attach retainer -C- (with holes) to coolant pipe -D- as shown in illustration.

Insert coolant pipe -D- (with sealing ring) into connection of heat exchanger -B-.

Secure coolant pipe in heat exchanger with retainers -C- and -D-.

Tighten both hex nuts -A- and -B- alternately and evenly (tightening torque 3 Nm).
NOTE:

Retainers -C- and -D- must be fitted as shown in illustration (pay attention to external shape).

When tightening hex nuts, take care not to tilt retainers.

After securing coolant pipes, check position of retainers. They must not make contact with other components.

Install second coolant pipe in the same way.

Before installing glove compartment, check cooling system for leaks.

Before installing glove compartment and plenum chamber cover, check position of grommet in coolant pipe penetration to plenum chamber.

Before attaching 2-pin connector to Coolant Pump -V50- of pump/valve unit, bleed coolant circuit
NOTE:

Coolant Pump -V50- of pump/valve unit should not be started up until coolant circuit has been bled.
