Affected Vehicles
Condition
Loss of engine coolant from leaking radiator. Low coolant warning light may also be illuminated.
Technical Background
Thermal stress and mechanical vibration causing fracture of radiator body.
Production Solution
Beginning with model year 2007, A8 vehicles are equipped with 4.2L FSI engines instead of 4.2L MPI engines.
An improved radiator is installed at the factory for all 4.2L FSI equipped vehicles.
Service
Remove faulty radiator and install improved radiator with bypass hose.
