Camshaft Oil Seal: Removal and Replacement
Camshaft Seals
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Removing
-
Remove the toothed belt. Refer to => [ Toothed Belt ] See: Timing Components/Timing Belt/Service and Repair/Removal and
Replacement/Toothed Belt.

Remove the camshaft gears.
‹› If the shaft seal leaks, replace the seals on both cylinder heads.
-
Align the inner part of the (3240) flush with the outer part.
Left Cylinder Head
-
Loosen the inner part of the (3240) 2 rotations and lock it using the knurled screw.
Right Cylinder Head
-
Loosen the inner part of the (3240) 7 rotations and lock it using the knurled screw.
Continuation for Both Sides
-
Lubricate the threaded head of the (3240), position and forcefully screw it into the oil seal as far as possible.

Loosen the knurled screw and turn the inner part against the camshaft until the seal is removed.

Secure the (3240) in a vice on the flat spots. Remove the seal using pliers
-
Clean the running and sealing surface.
Installing
-
Slide the oil seal onto the camshaft.
-
Press in the seal until seated using the (3241/1) and the (3241/6).
