Affected Vehicles
Condition
Poor or no heating in any or all heating zones of the vehicle.
W12 only: ECM software updated with modified map-controlled coolant thermostat specifications. The TCM software must also be updated to be
compatible with the new ECM software level.
Check vehicle campaign history to see whether RVU IJ or RVU IK was performed. If RVU IJ or RVU IK was performed, no further repairs are allowed
by this TSB.
Technical Background
Possible engine coolant scaling in HVAC system.

Warning:
Hot steam and/or hot coolant can escape when the expansion tank is opened. Wrap a cloth around the filler cap and open carefully.
