Alternator: Service and Repair
With 4.2L MPI

Generator

  Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Hose clip pliers (VAS 6362)

Removing

-

With ignition switched off, disconnect battery ground (ND) wire. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] See: Tools and
Equipment/Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.

Drain coolant.

-

Remove right front wheel.

-

Remove front right wheel housing liner.

-

Detach hose - arrow - to secondary air pump at bottom of air cleaner housing.

-

Detach air hose - 2 - at air cleaner housing.

-

Disconnect electrical connector - 1 -.

-

Remove bolts - arrows - and take out air cleaner housing.

-

Detach upper coolant hose - arrow - from radiator.
