Turn steering wheel approximately 10 times from stop to stop.

Test requirements:
^

Ribbed V-belt ribbed V-belt tension OK

^

No system leakage

^

Hoses/lines neither kinked nor trapped

^

Now check pumping pressure

^

Close cut-off valve (Item -1-) with engine idling and take pressure reading.

Note: To avoid damaging the pump, note the following:
^

The pressure gauge's cut-off valve must not remain closed for more than 10 seconds when carrying out this test.

^

Start the engine without pressing the accelerator and let it run at idling speed.

^

Read off the pump pressure at idling speed immediately after starting the engine (if necessary, have a second mechanic read off the pressure).

^

The pressure will drop during the test; take the highest pressure reading as the test value

^

Start engine and top off fluid level in reservoir if necessary.

^

Take pressure reading from pressure gauge at idling speed (measurement not longer than 10 seconds).

Specified value of delivery pressure: 125 - 130 bar

Note: Replace vane pump if specified value is not attained

Stop engine.

^

Remove pressure gauge.

^

Connect pressure line to power steering pump with banjo bolt.
