Installing

Clean flange shaft and shaft seal.

-

If the shaft seal is damaged, it must be replaced => [ Right Flange Shaft Seal ] See: Seals and Gaskets/Service and Repair/Final Drive, Differential
(09EA Transmission)/Right Flange Shaft Seal.

-

Fill the space between the sealing- and dust lip half way with sealing grease (G 052 128 A1).

-

Insert flange shaft by hand into front final drive splines until splines lock properly into place.

-

Push the flange shaft all the way in either by hand or using the drift (VW 295).

  ‹› The locking ring must lock onto the flange shaft.

-

Install right drive axle.

-

Install the driveshaft heat shield.

-

Check the axle oil level in the front final drive. Refer to => [ Separate or Combined Oil Systems, Differentiation ] See: Front Final Drive
