Gear Oil Level in Final Drive, Transmissions with Separate Oil Systems, Checking

  Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Used Oil Collecting and Extracting Device (V.A.G 1782)

‹› Transmission Fluid Hand Pump (VAS 6617)

‹› Protective eyewear

Test Conditions

  ‹› Axle oil temperature approximately 20 Â°C (68 Â°F) (room temperature) to max. 50 Â°C (122 Â°F).

‹› Vehicle level.

Test Sequence

-

Position the (V.A.G 1782) under the right side of the transmission.

  ‹› Follow all applicable disposal regulations.

‹› Automatic transmission clean working conditions, refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions ] See: Service Precautions/Clean Working Conditions.

‹› General repair instructions, refer to => [ General Repair Information ] See: Service Precautions/General Repair Information.

 

Wear protective eyewear.

-

Remove oil inspection and filler plug - arrow -.

Conditions:

  ‹› The fluid level must reach the bottom edge of the filling hole.

Axle oil capacities, refer to => [ Specifications ] See: Specifications/Mechanical Specifications/09EA Transmission/Table of Contents

Allow excess gear oil to run off or refill it with the hand pump for transmission oil (VAS 6617).

-

Replace the oil inspection and filler plug with seal.

Install the oil inspection and filler plug - arrow -.
