Cruise Control Switch: Service and Repair
Electrically Adjustable Steering Column Switch, Replacing

Removing:

-

Obtain radio anti-theft code, then disconnect battery ground strap.

Turn steering wheel to center position (wheels must be in straight ahead position).

-

Position steering column all the way down.

WARNING!

Airbag system components must only be checked, removed, installed, or repaired by qualified Service Department personnel.

Before starting to work on any part of the airbag system, disconnect the battery ground (GND) strap. When reconnecting the ground
strap. the passenger compartment must not be occupied.

Always refer to airbag system safety precautions.

-

Using Torx T30 bit -1-, remove screws from airbag unit from left and right sides of back of steering wheel: 7 Nm (62 in. lb).

-

Carefully remove airbag unit, disconnect electrical connector and place unit down with pad facing up.

-

Remove both screws -8- and remove upper steering column switch cover -1-.

-

Disconnect electrical connector of wiring to spiral spring.

-

Remove nut -12- and steering wheel -11-.

Tightening torque: 50 Nm (36 ft lb)

CAUTION!
When removing steering wheel, do not turn spiral spring from center position.
