Wheel Bearing: Service and Repair
Wheel Bearing Housing (Bearing Bolted In), Servicing

Rear Wheel Bearing Housing (Bearing Bolted In), Servicing

 
Note:  To remove wheel bearing, remove wheel bearing housing, Refer to Removing and Installing Wheel Bearing Housing.

1 - Bonded rubber bushing

Always replace bushings on both sides of vehicle

Extracting, Refer to Fig. 5 and Refer to 6

Installing, Refer to Fig. 7

2 - Self locking nut, 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.)

Always replace

3 - Connecting - link
5 - Spherical head bolt

^

To unscrew, remove wheel bearing housing Item

^

Tighten to 80 Nm (59 ft. lbs.) plus additional 90° turn

6 - Wheel bearing housing
8 - Wheel bearing

Bolted version

Removing and installing, Refer to Fig. 1

To unscrew, remove wheel bearing housing Item

9 - Splash plate

10 - Hub

Pressing out, Refer to Fig. 2

Pressing in, Refer to Fig. 4

11 - Collar bolt

^

Always replace

^

Tighten to 190 Nm (140 ft. lbs.) plus additional 180° turn

^

Switched from hex head to hex socket; installing both is permitted

WARNING!  To reduce the risk of accident, make sure vehicle is standing on its wheels when loosening and tightening collar bolt.
